Galera is situated in the Geopark de Granada, within walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants and a short drive to the larger towns of Huescar and Baza.
The local area
The village of Galera is a natural beauty spot, which is steeped in the history of many cultures going back some 4,000 years. With a population of less than 1,500, this unspoiled village in the Granada ‘Altiplano’ area and is one of the six villages with makes up the Huescar region within that area. Galera has a spectacular surrounding landscape including remarkable sparkling crystal deposits, where an interior lake has dried out over the years, leaving fascinating rock formations. It is about 150 kilometres from Granada City and at an altitude of around 830 metres above sea level its geographical situation is dominated by the surrounding mountains of Sagra, Castril, and Cazorla.
Galera has a swimming pool open from July to September and within 10 minute’s drive, there are two freshwater pools open all year round. There are two small supermarkets in the village, a local market on Wednesday as as well as bars and restaurants.

Check in anytime after 11am and check out by 12 midday. Arriving or departing outside of these times incurs a small

The Cave has two double bedrooms and one twin room. Bathroom with shower and fully equipped kitchen with washing machine, pots, pans and tea & coffee making facilities and wood burning stove for the winter. We supply fresh clean bedding and towels.
